Post Op Surgery FAQ

  • What geographic area do you cover?

Vital RNs is available to work in Seattle, WA and surrounding areas.

  • How can I pay for your services?

Vital RNs accepts all major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express as well as verified personal checks and money orders.

  • Are your services covered by insurance?

Our services are private pay and we currently do not accept payment by insurance.

  • How far in advance do I need to book Vital RNs service?

Vital RNs prefers our services be booked at the time your cosmetic surgery is booked (approximately 2-4 weeks in advance). However, we understand that your needs can change day to day and we will do our best to accommodate all requests.

  • What qualifications do your Registered Nurses have?

Vital RNs nurses specialize in working with post-operative plastic surgery patients. They have had many years of experience and are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. We screen employees thoroughly by extensive background checks, drug testing and reference checks. We are recognized and regulated by the Washington State Department of Health as a Nursing Pool Service. All of our registered nurses have current, active licenses for the state of Washington.

  • How do I know how many hours of nursing care I will need?

There are a number of variables: what kind of plastic surgery you are having, whether you are recovering at home or hotel, your personal medical history, if you have family or friend to continue helping you after we leave, your physician’s requirements, and, of course, your own preferences. Your plastic surgeon and our consulting nurse can discuss these issues with you.

  • Why can't my spouse or friend take care of me?

They probably can, depending on their experience and temperament. The real question is whether that choice is best for both of you. Post-operative care during the first 24 hours after surgery can be quite demanding. You may need continuous ice applied to eyes or neck overnight. You may have a catheter in your bladder or require assistance to walk to the bathroom. You may have surgical drains which need to be periodically emptied. You may be nauseated or require expert pain management. Many plastic surgery patients prefer that a nurse provide these services initially. Your nurse will always provide you with a written medication schedule and teach your support person how to handle any procedures that you may need after we leave.
